Jim McCormick

Background

Jim McCormick is an Operating Advisor at Staley Capital with over 30 years of executive management experience in the financial services industry and deep expertise across strategy, marketing, and financial analysis. Jim spent most of his career as Co-Founder and CEO of First Manhattan Consulting Group (FMCG Direct), a data-driven strategy and marketing consultancy focused on financial institutions that was acquired by Deluxe in 2016. Prior to First Manhattan, he served as Director of Systems Planning for the New York Stock Exchange and worked for McKinsey & Co. and Bell Labs. Over the course of his career, Jim has authored over 50 whitepapers on banking and is regularly quoted in publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Economist, Forbes, and Fortune. Additionally, Jim has provided testimony to the U.S. Senate Banking Committee and has appeared over 200 times as a speaker before various financial services industry groups.
Jim currently serves on the boards of Mercy College and the Engineering College at Cornell University, and he previously served as a national board member of Teach for America. He is also an active investor in early- and mid-stage businesses, having made over 25 investments to date in companies in his areas of expertise, and currently serves on the board of several private companies, including Relay Network and Itemize Corp.
Jim holds a Masters of Engineering and a B.S. in Operations Research from Cornell University, both with honors.
