Background
Herb Kleinberger is an Operating Advisor at Staley Capital and a longstanding retail industry consultant with more than 25 years of experience consulting with retailers on business, operations and IT strategy. He spent most of his career building and leading the Retail Consulting Practice of Price Waterhouse/PwC Consulting and joined IBM in 2002 when PwC sold its consulting business to IBM. While at IBM, Herb was the Global Leader of their Retail Strategy Practice and was responsible for publishing several landmark white papers on the future of the retailing industry. In 2019, Herb joined the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business as an Adjunct Professor, where he taught a course in retail strategy. Prior to teaching at Wharton, Herb developed and taught a course in retail strategy at the New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business, where he served as an Adjunct Professor.
Herb currently serves on the boards of Looma, a leading in-store retail media platform, where he represents Staley Capital, and Systems Alliance, a provider of a content management solutions for several verticals, including retail. In January 2017, he co-authored a research piece for the Harvard Business Review, “Curing the Addiction to Growth,” which focuses on the retailing industry.
Herb is a graduate of the State University of New York with a B.S. in Computer Science and received an M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. He also attended the Advanced Management Program at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Business.
